Prospect VR

Having consistently kept pace with our course content and project schedule afforded my the opportunity to explore new and exciting tools beyond those traditionally used to review coordinated models. Prospect is one such software that has allowed me to upload my federated models to a cloud that I can then view using an Oculus Quest 2.

A VDC review team accesses Propect's cross-compatible platform through a shared file so users equipped with a VR headset or just a laptop can collaborate with each other simultaneously.

This was my favorite deliverable to produce because the gratification from literally jumping into models I have spent endless hours adjusting and refining is such a breath-taking experience. Before this, I had struggled to understand the practicality of viewing a model in VR, thinking its purposes were limited to communicating a projects design intent to clients and stakeholders. I have since realized the potential of holistically reviewing a model in VR to provide greater insight and ability to assess the true quality of the modeled environment. This has inspired me to continue to learn how virtual reality can be leveraged in the construction industry.
